26 km round trip in the east of the Hanseatic city of Korbach - over asphalt and field/forest paths past the Strother Landwehr and the tower of the Dalwigker Warte.

Start at the entry point of the Ederseebahn cycle path (Wildunger Landstraße). First follow the R5 and the GeoRadroute Ruhr-Eder in the direction of Herzhausen/Edersee. At the Sauren Breite turn left over the Wildunger Landstraße and climb to Waldecker Berg (grill and rest area). Arrived at the height along the edge of the forest. Past the beekeeping bee stall of Korbach (with flower meadow and educational path) further north. On asphalted roads over the B251 and with great views to the water reservoir at Strother Straße. These cross and continue along the outskirts of the city to the edge of the Korbach industrial area. After crossing the Arolser Landstraße you pass the large halls of Continental AG and cycle further down to the Twistetal (bike rest area) and to Berndorf (possibility of refreshments). Pass the church (a Romanesque pillar basilica with a fortified tower) through the village (crossing the main road) and then on the ascending forest path to the Korbacher Marke with remains of the Landwehr (memorial stone). Continue through Strothe and on the Kreisstraße to Meineringhausen (possibility of a stop). Here you cross the Ederseebahn cycle path and cycle south out of the village. Through the field corridor up to the gravel climb into the Dalwigker Holz with historical watchtower (with observation platform). Follow the forest path from here further north until back to the Ederseebahn cycle path. On this back to the starting point.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author

If you want to learn more about Korbach's fortifications and the history of the medieval Hanseatic city, I recommend the circular route "Between the Walls" - always along the double city wall ring around the old town of Korbach. 10 interactive stations invite pedestrians and cyclists on a journey into the past. You can find the tour under "City tours" also in this portal.

Safety guidelines

Due to the road condition (in addition to asphalt also gravel field and forest roads) and three ascending sections suitable especially for trekking bikes and mountain bikes with road traffic permit.
