Cure in Bad Wilhelmshöhe

Kassel has been a thermal brine spa since the turn of the millennium. Dedicated spa doctors provided important impulses for new, natural therapies as early as 1900. Today, Bad Wilhelmshöhe offers a broad spectrum of holistic healing arts. This includes Ayurvedic medicine, acupuncture, anthroposophic medicine, homeopathy, psychosomatic medicine and classical natural medicine.

In the Kneipp spa Kassel - Bad Wilhelmshöhe you will find picturesquely situated Kneipp treading facilities in the middle of Europe's largest mountain park. Nowhere else will you find restorative relaxation and stimulating culture so close together. Discover this pleasant change!

Kneipp health resort

Even today, you will find references to this naturopathic therapy method everywhere in the spa district. Not only the 3 Kneipp facilities in a picturesque ambience bear witness to a long tradition, you will also find a 3,500 square metre flower and medicinal plant garden in the spa district and an extraordinarily wide range of providers who focus on the topic of healthy nutrition.

Among natural healing methods, Sebastian Kneipp's holistic therapy is not only one of the first, but also the most comprehensive. Convinced of the symbiosis between man and nature, Sebastian Kneipp built his therapy on five pillars: a conscious lifestyle, the healing power of herbs, moderate exercise, a healthy and balanced diet and the healing power of water.

Kneipp facilities in Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe

Treading water against the backdrop of Löwenburg Castle - where else can you get to the bottom of Sebastian Kneipp's teachings in such a unique atmosphere? Simply enjoy a pleasant refreshment for your tired legs after the climb from the castle to Löwenburg. Or treat your feet to a rest at the Kneipp facility at Mulang, located between Wilhelmshöhe Castle and the Habichtswald Clinic, after you have visited the "Old Masters" gallery in Wilhelmshöhe Castle. Directly above the Löwenburg, below the Löwenburg at the Sibyl Grotto and at the Mulang, below the castle pond, you will find, uniquely inserted into the park, three Kneipp water treading facilities and Kneipp arm bathing basins.

In addition, there is another facility, located on the very edge of the spa park, natural-looking, at the Prinzenquelle with a magnificent view of the Hercules. All facilities can be used free of charge every day during the season (01 May - 02 October). During the winter months, the pedal pools and arm pools are not in use. The facilities in the Bergpark are only accessible on foot. The Mulang facility is a two-minute walk from the Habichtswald Clinic with its parking facilities and is best accessible for people with limited mobility. The Prinzenquelle facility can also be reached by car via the Kirchditmold district.

Thermal brine spring „Unter den Eichen“

Efforts to extract thermal brine in Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe had already been made at the beginning of the last century. However, due to the depth of the deposit, it was not possible to extract the brine from two boreholes more than 1000 m deep with the technical means available at the time. The breakthrough came in April 1979. The new Wilhelmshöhe 3 borehole at a depth of 629 m yielded the desired result: a sodium chloride thermal brine.

The thermal brine of the "Unter den Eichen" thermal spring, with an initial temperature of 25.6°C, is a natural local remedy of the soil with a sodium chloride content of over 240 mval/kg. Studies confirm that this pure thermal brine is of drinking water quality. It has healing and pain-relieving effects and stabilises health-maintaining regulatory processes.

The area around the spring has been turned into an attractive information point. On an attractive board, one learns how and when the spring was discovered, which geological formations are responsible for the quality of the healing water, which substances the sodium chloride spring is also composed of, and finally, for which healing indications the application of the spring water is suitable.

The complex, picturesquely situated between Baunsbergstraße and the street An den Eichen, leads the interested visitor, but also the casual passer-by, to the origins of our present-day spa. Every hour, 34,500 litres of thermal water bubble up from the spring at a depth of 629 metres. The thermal brine is heated to 33° to 36°C in the Kurhessen Therme. Together with the facilities for physical and exercise therapy, it guarantees an optimal and promising treatment.
