With its magnificent portal, the three dwarf houses and the two-storey oriel, the so-called "Utlucht", on the north front, the town hall forms a contrast to the plain-looking Guelph castle. Today, the town hall houses the registry office and the tourist information office.
Inside there are two halls, one above the other. In the 1920s, the lower town hall was decorated with murals depicting the town's history. On the wall of the building, numerous level marks recall past floods. The "Maß-Elle" next to the north portal bears witness to the colourful market hustle and bustle on the town hall square.

More information
The carillon in the town hall gable on the north side rings three times a day. The figure cycle depicts a treatment by the legendary itinerant doctor Johann Andreas Eisenbart. The carillon can be seen at 12.00, 15.00 and 17.00 each day.
A brochure with the text of the Eisenbart song is available at the Tourist Information.
