At the beginning of the 20th century, the town hall was built by Karl Roth in neo-baroque style from 1905 to 1909. With this construction method, the new building adapted to the baroque style of the French Upper Neustadt. Even then, two gilded bronze lions flanked the flight of steps; in 1939, the gilding was renewed.
During World War II, the town hall was badly damaged, its Huguenot surroundings destroyed. Since the reconstruction, it shows a simple roof shape, later modern extensions were added at right angles.
