Since 2015, the forest botanical garden has also been the headquarters of the Münden Nature Park. For this purpose, the former gardener's house was renovated and extended with a modern extension made of beech thermo-wood. This provides additional space for a meeting room and the office of the district forester's office.
Both in the construction of the house and the interior design, attention was paid to sustainability: The beech trees come from the forests of the Nds. forestry office Münden and were processed regionally in the Göttingen workshops, a facility for the professional integration of people with mental or psychological disabilities.
The special arboretum
Among experts, the forest botanical garden in Hann. Münden is considered a very special arboretum. An arboretum is a so-called tree garden, i.e. a collection of woody plants from all over the world.
An important destination for dendrologists
For dendrologists from all over the world, it is one of the most important German visitor destinations. In the last few years alone, botanists and dendrologists have met seven times in Hann. Münden to view the garden's woody plants, some of which are unique.
