The cycle route, which has been awarded 5 stars by the ADFC, combines varied scenery, peace and quiet and recreation with active leisure activities, culture and history.Join the Diemel on the approximately 112 kilometer long cycle path through the lovely Diemel valley from its source in Willingen-Usseln to its mouth in Bad Karlshafen. "Diemeln" you on the river bike path through diverse natural landscapes from the heights of the Waldecker Upland over the nature park Diemelsee through gently rolling low mountain landscapes to the Weser. Take your time for the friendly half-timbered villages and pretty little towns with history and adventure offers along the way. Take advantage of the numerous leisure opportunities with a side trip to Willingen, visit the historic Marsberg, rest at mills and hammers in the valley of the Orpe, stroll through the almost 1000-year-old Hanseatic town of Warburg, enjoy peace and quiet in the climatic health resort Trendelburg or spend time in the Huguenot town of Bad Karlshafen.The Diemelradweg is well developed and easy to ride. Once you've climbed Padberg, you'll ride mostly without any major inclines. The cycle path runs mostly away from traffic roads on mainly asphalt paths and almost always directly along the Diemel.Diemelradweg is relaxed to ride on a weekend.
