Spring creek valley

park/garden area
Many different types of biotope can be found in a very small area in the Quellbach valley: Swamp and wetland areas border on succession and nutrient-poor meadows, bushes border on orchards, sunny, dry slopes border on shady wooded areas.

The Quellbach valley is an approx. 1,000 meter long and approx. 100 meter wide strip in the Fasanenhof district between residential areas and extensive allotment garden colonies. In the 1950s, horticultural use also spread to the central areas of the valley directly next to the Quellbach. Over time, the allotment plots developed into veritable allotment garden sites with massive, fully developed arbors, which were sometimes inhabited all year round. Dense hedges surrounded the individual gardens, the spring brook was channeled or built over at will, many conifers were planted alongside fruit trees and ultimately nothing of the original character of the spring brook valley could be felt any more.
