Space for urban experiments

The association has set itself the goal of harnessing the unused potential of open urban spaces. Two focal points of the association's work are the two subways at Weinberg and Holländischer Platz. In recent years, the association has established both as venues for urban culture.
The colourful walls in the subways at Weinberg and Holländischer Platz immediately catch the eye of pedestrians: graffiti and street art turn the car-free paths of the 1950s into real eye-catchers.

For the association "Raum für urbane Experimente" ("RuE"), founded in 2012, such inner-city locations offer unused potential that the members play on in unconventional and creative ways: with concerts, workshops, lectures and especially the GaleRuE, the association contributes to changing and revitalising these spaces.

The GaleRuE is a gallery for street art in the Holländischer Platz subway that is open weekly. Here, regional and national artists are given the opportunity to present their work.

In addition to the two permanent project locations, the association is constantly striving to expand its radius of action and transform other Kassel locations into laboratories for urban experiments. In 2016, the Space for Urban Experiments received the Cultural Promotion Award from the City of Kassel.
