The association Urbane Experimente awakens inconspicuous urban spaces with cultural life. Urban interventions, graffiti and street art provide a new view of the city. The public space becomes a creative action area for everyone. Events such as concerts, workshops, poetry slams or a staircase cinema enliven the place. A temporary pop-up gallery will present street art. The association's cooperation partners include museums, initiatives and documenta 14.
Under the project title RuE - Space for Urban Experiments, the association has transformed the subways at Holländischer Platz and Weinberg into Kassel's first street art gallery. There is always something new to discover here. Around 3,000 square metres are available. At RuE's invitation, regional and international artists regularly redesign the walls in the two subways. Cultural exchange is an important concern. There are good connections to the street art scene in Brazil, among others.
One of the initiators of RuE is Marcel de Medeiros, who comes from São Paulo. You will also get to know the designer as a street artist on this audio tour under the pseudonym Marcel Arts.
