The Feiertag Gallery is a non-commercial exhibition venue in the former old town of Kassel near the Pferdemarkt. For five years, works by mostly young artists and occasionally special positions outside the established art scene have been shown at this so central, yet often overlooked location. As a fixed part of the exhibition concept, a billboard on the corner of Bremer Straße and Artilleriestraße is also used, extending the gallery's visibility into the outside space.
The aim is to provide a platform where local and international artists can try out unconventional exhibition concepts and exchange ideas with people interested in art and people from the neighbourhood.
The gallery was founded by the Kassel artist and illustrator Janosch Feiertag while he was still studying at the Kunsthochschule Kassel. He has been running it together with the artist Malte Stiehl for two years. For the period from mid-June to mid-September, the gallery is planning a series of five exhibitions involving a total of 10 international artists and two guest curators.
