The Berlin artist group Innerfields confronts us with a modern interpretation of the Grimm fairy tale "Snow White". Here, the figure of the evil queen stands for nature-destroying industry. The photo-realistically painted face is reminiscent of an advertising icon. Behind it, technical equipment such as a construction crane are inserted as graphic elements. The gold leaf refers to the pursuit of profit. Snow White in her innocent white dress embodies threatened nature. The seven dwarfs are symbolised by forest animals and step behind her like a protective net. The entire picture is kept in muted pastel shades and is effective because of its clear pictorial language. Beautification and critical commentary on the times are not mutually exclusive here.
The street artists Jakob Bardou, Holger Weißflog and Veit Tempich have been working together since 1998. They are active around the globe and are now also present with their works in art galleries. They also include event spaces and a repair café.
This artwork is also included in the audio tour "Streetart in Kassel" on izi.Travel. The tour was made possible by the cdw Foundation.
