Don't be fooled. The colourful courtyard on the wall is an illusion. The painting was created by a team of German and Romanian street artists. They include Irlo, Kero, Ocu and Iro from FisArt and Iro Universe from KolorCubes.
The KolorCubes association had invited the Romanian street art festival FisArt to Kassel in the documenta year 2017 to exchange experiences. While Europe struggles for cohesion, the artists realise their vision of a common space in this mural. It is about freedom of expression, openness, cooperation, polyphony and tolerance. The urban art form creates a new space of belonging and solidarity beyond national borders. In the street art scene, at least, understanding already works.
The artwork is part of the project "Public Art Gallery" by KolorCubes.
