From classical modernism to documenta art
Located on the Schöne Aussicht with a view over the Karlsaue, the Neue Galerie houses the municipal and state art collections. On display are paintings, sculptures and new media from around 1800 to the present day. The centrepiece of the museum is a room furnished by Joseph Beuys himself with his works. The permanent exhibition "about documenta" is a perfect complement to this. Original works from past documenta exhibitions are on display in several rooms.
