From Classical Modernism to documenta Art
Located at the Schöne Aussicht with a view over the Karlsaue, the Neue Galerie houses the city’s and state’s art collections. On display are paintings, sculptures, and new media works from around 1800 to the present. The centerpiece of the museum is a room curated by Joseph Beuys himself, featuring his own works. The permanent exhibition “about documenta” is the perfect complement to this. Original works from past documenta exhibitions are displayed across several rooms.
