New gallery

Located at the Schöne Aussicht with a view over the Karlsaue, the Neue Galerie houses the city’s and state’s art collections. On display are paintings, sculptures, and new media works dating from around 1800 to the present. The centerpiece of the museum is a room curated by Joseph Beuys himself, featuring his own works. The permanent exhibition “about documenta” perfectly complements this. Original works from past documenta exhibitions are displayed in several rooms.
