Death and dying are part of life
If it is only through death that we come to understand what life truly is, then this museum is also a museum of life.
The permanent exhibition showcases how practices related to “the final matters” have evolved. These include burial and mourning rites as well as special customs, but also artistic perspectives on life and death. The museum’s collection focuses on Central Europe from the late Middle Ages to the present.
