Unique in Germany, the museum, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, displays a wide range of sepulchral objects such as shrouds, coffins, carriages or traditional costumes. The changing, thematic special exhibitions complement and expand the range of exhibits.

The Museum für Sepulkralkultur in Kassel occupies a unique position in Germany's museum landscape and celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2022. Its central themes are dying and death, mourning and commemoration. In 2022, the museum was a location of the documenta fifteen.
