The city's landmark
Since 1717, Kassel's landmark has been enthroned on the summit of the Karlsberg at a height of 530 metres above the city. The structure is the crowning glory of the 1.5-kilometre-long cascade complex.
A steep pyramid rises from an octagon with a viewing platform, crowned by the monumental statue of Hercules. The entire structure reaches a height of 71 metres and from the viewing platform there is a magnificent view over the entire baroque park, the city and the low mountains.
