In 2021, the Kassel-based artist Jackules implemented a work of art that seems to defy all the rules of gravity: colourful springs of water play around doors and windows, giving the impression of striving upwards.
The owner of this house in Schillerstraße commissioned the Kassel street artist Jackules to design the façade of this apartment building in 2021. Since the two had already worked together on a smaller previous project, Jackules was given a free hand to design the wall according to his ideas. The motif ultimately came about by recourse to water as the element that has played the most prominent role in the artist's work for many years now: some of his graffiti and portraits seem to disintegrate into water, while other works deal with the significance of water for life, our consciousness and nature. He himself speaks of studying water, that is, of wanting to penetrate it in its many forms and meanings. The work on view here clearly shows how far he has already progressed in this exploration.

Against all the rules of gravity, five different coloured water springs, painted with spray cans within two days, seem to strive upwards. The resulting streams of water play around the façade elements such as windows and doors, creating a unique dynamic for viewers that fascinates. You can find out more about Jackules' work in the Street Art audio guide to the Wesertor / North Holland district.
