Aschrottpark

park/garden area
A picturesque district park of special beauty - designed by Sigmund Aschrott in the Vorderer Westen district.
Aschrottpark was created at the end of the 19th century by Sigmund Aschrott. It served as the end of the western end of the Vorderer Westen district, which was also founded by him. As part of his urban planning concept, Aschrott had the garden architects Gebrüder Siesmayr from Bockenheim transform the site into a public landscape park from 1885 onwards - for which huge quantities of earth first had to be trucked in, as the soil on the 205-metre-high pine knoll was unsuitable.

In spring, thousands of crocuses, in autumn the colourful foliage add countless accents of colour. Benches in the park offer resting opportunities and from the viewing platform there is a wonderful view of the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe with the Hercules.

When walking through the park, dogs may be kept on a lead. At the edge of the square park there is a playground that invites you to play ball. At the south-west corner is the Apostles' Chapel, which belongs to the Evangelical Peace Church in Kassel.
