Zoom - Insights into the World of Microscopy

From September 4, 2026, through April 11, 2027, this cabinet exhibition will showcase one of the world’s most significant collections of historical microscopes and offer fascinating insights into the holdings of the Astronomical-Physical Cabinet at Hessen Kassel Heritage.

Since their invention in the 17th century, microscopes have opened up new perspectives on the world and made groundbreaking discoveries possible. Fascinated by these extraordinary insights, the Landgraves of Hesse—led by Carl of Hesse-Kassel—also collected numerous microscopes of all kinds.

The exhibition traces the development of microscopy and invites you to get hands-on through workshops and research stations.
