A painting by ALIAA ABOU KHADDOUR has adorned a residential building façade on Ostring since September 2021. "The Last Block" shows a boy playing with wooden blocks and wearing a fox mask. It is the first façade design by the artist, whose previous works were characterised by a filigree drawing style. The mask worn by the child absorbed in play, as well as the grey skin colour, are means for associations: Who is this boy? While many façade artists are often bothered by windows in their pictures, the artist has integrated them into her motif.
ALIAA ABOU KHADDOUR was born in Damascus in 1978. She studied art and art history and works as an artist/illustrator and teaches. She has shown her work in several international exhibitions. In Kassel, she illustrated several exhibitions of the GRIMMWELT.
