Rand Film Festival: Films that provoke, unsettle, and captivate.

  • event location/venue
Randfilm provides a platform for the forgotten, the repressed, the censored, and the overlooked. The film festival has a different theme each year. In 2026, the films will be screened from September 24 to 27.

The name says it all—Randfilm focuses on “offbeat” cinema. The festival showcases films that break taboos and take viewers on visionary journeys through the dark corners of our minds and subconscious.

And so the 13th edition of the Randfilmfest will be celebrated with a rich program at the Bali Kinos, the Kubatur, and the Film-Shop. You can look forward to premieres, classics, rediscoveries, and works by emerging filmmakers in both short and feature-length films. Over four days, the 13th Randfilmfest combines offbeat feature films and edgy short films from around the world with an exciting supporting program.

The association invites you to experience cinematic stories and programs that regular venues and commercial theaters do not show. Randfilm brings bold and socially relevant works by both young and established filmmakers out of the shadows and into the spotlight. And at regular intervals, the association hosts “Randfilm Nights” at Filmshop Kassel, Germany’s oldest video rental store.
