The exceptional artist SatOne, alias Rafael Gerlach, was born in Venezuela in 1977 and grew up in Germany. He is one of the defining figures of the scene. His mural art projects can be admired all over the world, from Bulgaria to Chile, South Africa, India, Russia, the USA and the Arab Emirates. He realised the wall in Kassel in 2017.
With his experimental, geometric forms, the artist moves between clarity and subjective gesture. He turns away from established design principles of the academic art world and yet is celebrated for it. SatOne has also exhibited in art galleries since 2002. Street art has arrived in high culture and must increasingly protect itself from appropriation. "My home is not my castle," says SatOne. Because, his home is the art and every wall is a part of it.
The artwork belongs to the project "Public Art Gallery" by KolorCubes.
It is also included in the audio tour "Streetart in Kassel" on izi.Travel. The tour was made possible by the cdw Foundation.
