A jewel in the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe - the award-winning rose garden. Below Wilhelmshöhe Palace, near the Lacs, 1000 different shrub, wild and climbing roses bloom. The extensive collection was awarded the European "Award of Garden Excellence".
A Mecca for Rose Lovers

A rose garden was first laid out in Wilhelmshöhe Park in 1767. The "Rose Island" and with it the shrub roses in the landscape park were created around 1790. As early as 1775, the court gardener of Landgrave Friedrich II, Daniel August Schwarzkopf, bred the "Pearl of Weissenstein" there. It is the oldest German cultivated rose and can always be admired in full bloom in June;
