Heisebach valley

nature reserve
You can discover the biodiversity of the Heisebach Valley on a short walk.

Meadows, pastures and farmland characterize the natural recreational area around the Heisebach. Well hidden behind reeds and shrubs, a wetland biotope offers plants and animals an ecologically valuable retreat. Many bird species have found their nesting place in the designated nature reserve, and in summer you can hear the croaking of frogs from the ponds - mixed with the calls of athletes from the training grounds on the other side of the path. Butterbur thrives on the banks of the Heisebach stream. In early spring, it is one of the first sources of nectar and pollen for wild bees.

In general, attentive walkers can take part in a rich natural environment. Brown hares are out and about in the meadows, kestrels and buzzards can be seen hunting mice over the fields, sometimes even a roe deer dares to approach and in the fall, thrushes snack on the ripe berries of rowan and hawthorn. You could almost forget that just a few steps further on, the rows of houses of the city begin again.
