In August 2020, the building at Reuterstraße 3 received a design by the Kassel artist and Rothenditmold businessman Patrick Schütze in addition to the artwork "Space Writers" by the two Bulgarian artists Arsek and Erase on the opposite side of the building.
The artwork is a prelude to the area around Reuterstraße and Schillerstraße with several wall designs by the KolorCubes association and could be realised with funds from the "Socially Integrative City of Rothenditmold" urban development programme.
Patrick Schütze has been painting graffiti since his youth and studied art in Kassel and Krakow. He has been an active member of the Unity Shop since 2009. The hand is adapted and reinterpreted from an art poster of the Frankfurt Art Fair from the 80s. At times it acted as a mascot and logo for the Unity Shop.
The Unity Shop was founded in 1998 and has been selling graffiti and skate merchandise ever since. Above all, however, the shop is an integral part and infrastructural driving force of Kassel's youth culture and street art scene. Since 2020, the Unity Shop has been located on the premises of the KreativFabrik in Rothenditmolder Straße 21, where the KolorCubes studio is also located. Both initiatives work closely together.
The artwork is part of the project "Public Art Gallery" by KolorCubes.
