The creation of the Stadthallengarten was initiated in 1905 by the famous Kassel merchant Sigmund Aschrott, who was also the builder of the Vorderer Westen district. On the occasion of the upcoming 1000th anniversary celebrations in 1913 and his 85th birthday, Aschrott made the land available to the city of Kassel for the construction of a town hall. The town hall was finally inaugurated in April 1914, and the first outlines of the surrounding park were also laid out. The Stadthalle Park was given its current size in 1929 when landscape architect Rudolf Stier redesigned it. At that time, the area was filled in and enclosed by the wall that still exists today. The circular path with lime trees, poplars and lawns also dates back to this time.
