Every year in July and August, a fairy-tale theater takes over the lake stage on the Märchenteich in Schönfeld Park. This children’s theater invites young audiences to enjoy dance, theater, and music, delighting them along the way. In 2026, “Of a Girl Who Set Out to Learn to Be Afraid” will be performed from July 2 through August 9.

Fairytale Musical 2026: The Girl Who Set Out to Learn Fear

The brave and cheerful Käthe Schüssler has an unusual wish: she finally wants to learn what it means to feel afraid. Her father therefore places her in the care of a strict sexton couple, who soon find themselves overwhelmed by her spirited nature. Together with a dubious count, they devise a plan: Käthe is to spend three nights in a haunted castle. Will she finally learn what fear feels like?

A lively open-air event full of wit, charm, and music – featuring a diverse musical journey from Sweet and KISS to Metallica and Michael Jackson, all the way to Blondie and the Spice Girls. Perfect for the whole family and suitable for children aged 6 and up.
