Opposite the historic old town of Frankenberg is the municipal game park. Here you will find mountain goats as well as black, red, fallow, sika and mouflon deer. Except for the fenced wild boar and the mountain goats, the animals roam freely - without any disturbing fences. The well-known Eder Heights Trail leads partly through the park and allows animal observations at close range. You can also reach the game park on the premium Frankenberger Blickwinkel hiking trail. A special experience for young and old is the walk up close by the free-ranging wild animals, a playground welcomes you to take a breather. The animals are so trusting that even children can pet them.
The annual highlights that you should not miss are:
in spring the birth of the mouflon lambs
Easter bonfire every Easter Saturday
in June the birth of calves of fallow deer and red deer
traditional game park festival at the beginning of September
in September the red deer rut
in October fallow deer rut
Christmas tree campaign in December
The municipal game park is open with free entrance at all times of the year and day.
Please note: Dogs are not allowed in the game park!
