exhibition
The Karlswiese in front of the Orangerie is the heart of the 125-hectare Karlsaue state park. The baroque Auepark, named after Landgrave Karl of Hesse-Kassel, has been an important exhibition venue for the documenta for many years.
This year, Cinema Caravan & Takashi Kuribayashi are present in the park with tents, herbal sauna and open-air cinema. The collective uses the caravan as a model of a community in which individuals retain their autonomy and yet grow together with others to form a community. With Return to Sender, an installation made of rubbish, The Nest Collective from Nairobi draws attention to the transport of rubbish, electronic waste and textiles to the Global South. Cao Minghao and Chen Jianjun from China, who work on the current socio-ecological realities of humanity, will also erect a tent here.
