Gustav Mine - Grube Gustav

Equipped with a protective helmet, the "Grubenfahrt" (mining tour) takes you 360 meters inside the mountain on foot at the visitor mine "Grube Gustav" in the Bilstein mining district. Originally searching for silver and cobalt, the desired copper slate was discovered in the mountain and has been mined since the 16th century. Hundreds of meters of crawl tunnels, carved by hand with hammer and chisel into the hard rock, are impressive testimonies to the hard work of the miners.
