Dorothea-Viehmann-Park

park/garden area
The expansive green space connects the districts of Niederzwehren and Oberzwehren and bears the name of the famous storyteller. Throughout the park, visitors will discover art installations inspired by fairy tales, open spaces, and uniquely designed mosaic benches.

Where the Hare and the Hedgehog Say “Good Night”
A stroll through the park named after storyteller Dorothea Viehmann is a journey into the world of fairy tales. Mosaic benches decorated with motifs from Grimm’s fairy tales, along with sculptures and art installations that bring classic stories to life, are scattered throughout the 7.3-hectare park located in the "Märchenviertel" (Fairy Tale Quarter) of Niederzwehren.

The park’s namesake, Dorothea Viehmann, lived at Märchenweg 11 near the park grounds from 1787 to 1798. The Brothers Grimm valued her as their most important and reliable source of fairy tales. Along the walking paths, visitors are welcome to pick fruits from the trees and shrubs. Dogs are allowed on a leash.
