Kassel East: Versatile and industrial.

Discover the other side of Fulda:

If you follow the Fulda from the Orangery to the north, you will pass the famous Spitzhacke and reach the east bank of the Fulda via the wire bridge. Here you can relax on the cosy café terrace at the Bademuseum & Kurbad Jungborn. We continue to the more industrially shaped east of Kassel, where there are some interesting “lost places” to discover. Hostel Sandershaus offers a diverse cultural programme. It is also worth exploring the eastern districts of Waldau, Unterneustadt and Bettenhausen. They are also one of the venues of documenta fifteen.

Culture and industrial monuments

“Lost Places” at old industrial sites, family-friendly residential areas and even picturesque half-timbered ensembles with an almost village character: it is this special mix that makes a stroll through Kassel’s East particularly appealing. The cultural life on this side of the Fulda is equally diverse: concerts and other cultural events take place in the Sandershaus all year round. Live music is also on the programme of Kulturfabrik Salzmann e. V. Although it is no longer at home in the halls of the textile factory of the same name, an imposing industrial monument in the east of Kassel, it has found a new home with the premises of a former Kupferhammerhof on Leipziger Straße.

Worth knowing about the East of Kassel

Did you know that the Fulda, which flows through Kassel’s East Quarter, is so long? Insider tip: The bathing museum and the Café Jungborn are located directly on the river.
