Built on a mountain spur high above the Diemel, the defiant castle is visible from afar. The imposing keep towers over 40 meters - it's easy to imagine that Rapunzel let her long hair down from up there.
But it's not just Rapunzel's fairy tale that is at home at Trendelburg Castle: the 700-year-old castle complex also houses a romantic hotel, a restaurant, a vaulted cellar, a castle chapel and a registry office. The keep is open for tours for a small fee: There is a torture museum, a fear hole as well as a Grimm's floor. Those who climb the 130 steps to the top also have a fantastic view over the wooded hills of the Diemel Valley; the same is true from the outdoor terrace in the castle courtyard.
Experiences:
Hotel and restaurant - Guided castle tours with Ritter Dietrich or Rapunzel on request - Tour of the keep - Medieval fairy tale festival in May and magic of lights in Advent.
