... Be careful at the fairy tale fountain in front of the Schauenburg fairy tale guard that the mermaid doesn't also take you down into her wet realm...

The fairy tale of the water mermaid was told to the Brothers Grimm by Marie von Dalwigk, née Hassenpflug, who spent many years of her life at the Oberhof in Schauenburg-Hoof. The Schauenburg Fairy Tale Watch was created in memory of her and of the Breitenbach-born constable Johann Friedrich Krause, who also contributed several fairy tales to the Grimm collection.

The exhibition deals with the lives of the two fairy tale contributors against the background of historical events. Lovingly designed by Breitenbach-born artist Albert Schindehütte, the former fire engine house also regularly invites visitors to top-class readings, concerts and other events.

It can be visited every Sunday from 15:00 to 18:00 and by appointment.
