Germany's oldest painters' colony

The Willingshausen painters' colony in the heart of Rotkäppchenland is considered to be the oldest painters' colony in Germany. It was co-founded by Ludwig-Emil Grimm, the younger brother of the fairytale collectors.

1000 years

Germany's oldest bell

In the bell tower next to the abbey ruins in Bad Hersfeld, Germany's oldest bell from the year 1038 rings out today - almost 1000 years later. The abbey ruins themselves are the oldest Romanesque church ruins north of the Alps.
