description: "Interior and exterior combine to create a spatial conceptIn addition to his work in painting, literature and sculpture, Danish artist Per Kirkeby is known for his architectural brick sculptures. The \"spatial sculpture\" was created as part of the new documenta Halle as an art-in-architecture project and was completed in time for documenta 9. Due to its placement at the rear end of the documenta Halle, it takes up the main axis of the building and forms the final point of the elongated hall architecture. When passing through the sculpture, inside and outside merge into one another. This spatial experience can be experienced as an alternation of compactness and transparency, of opening and closing."
